There are planners for women and men, and occasionally different prog rams, like the Silver program that was available when I joined, but these result in only minor changes in the planners. Quercetin actually fights off inflammation that can cause your throat to swell. And my doctor approved of this diet. I've been doing the ideal protein diet and I've had great success I love all the videos and I love the way the coaches help. I just wanted to offer you a huge thumbs up for the great information you have right here on this post.

It's not what you'd think.

Nutrisystem Diabetic Reviews

I still think Nutrisystem is fairly priced, and is an excellent resource for people looking to lose weight quickly. You will get results when following their plan, which is why it can be a great option for a lot of people who have a significant amount of weight to lose. For me, it has been a good way to reset after weight gain, and then I can go back to focusing on eating healthy and preparing meals on my own, sort of like you plan to do.

In any case, hope your month went well, and best of luck with your weight loss journey. You have made some good points, and the pricing info is well-detailed. Thanks Carla, happy to hear you found the information useful — if you decide to try Nutrisystem, I hope it goes well!

Thanks for the pricing info. Has anyone else been able to do this? Hi Cindy — Thanks for visiting, and happy to hear the pricing info helped! I think 5 to 10 pounds is totally doable, especially if you commit to the full 2 months! Remember, Nutrisystem does offer counselors to help keep you on track, and as long as you stick to the program, you should see a significant amount of weight loss during that time period!

That has definitely been a key to success for me over the years. In any case, best of luck — let us know how it goes! I was pretty pleased to find this web site and your cost breakdown is very detailed. Thanks for all of the information — it makes my decision a lot easier.

Hopefully can report back with some great results. Thanks for all of the information. Makes my decision a lot easier knowing exactly what things are going to cost! Need to loose about 59 pounds. Thank you for the sensible critique and cost info. Mostly fish and vegetables. Sometimes chicken or turkey but not all the time! Is there a plan to start me on this regiment? Can you send some ideas and pricing plans?

I tried turbo shakes with other companies and they gave me lots of gas…lol Thanks if this gets to you. Hi Jim — sorry, I missed this comment at the time you posted it. I would also recommend looking at BistroMD https: Diet-to-Go has some really good plans that sound like they could work for you. Both are going to be a bit more pricey than Nutrisystem, but sound like they could be a better fit. My husband and I are considering NS.

We also do not want to purchase ANY other food if possible. Hi Lynn — I replied to Ray with a couple of other options BistroMD and Diet-to-Go …I would recommend checking out those reviews if you think they may be something that would work for you and your husband. There are definitely some ways to keep the costs down though.

You will definitely want to incorporate fresh produce, though, as I think you would get tired of only eating their pre-made meals, and you will want to mix in a salad or something on most days just to get the health benefits from the fresh produce if nothing else. Hi Pete — the frozen food is an additional charge, but can be included in your 4-week order or as an ala carte item. Many are on a fixed income and I am one of them … an older woman, a widow, and on a very fixed income.

With the profit your company surely must realize, might you consider offering your program free to a few deserving people men and women who would benefit from it as well? Just something you might consider … it just might be of benefit to your company in another way … good will!

The Costco purchased gift cards can definitely be used and there is a space at checkout to put them in. You will just have to make sure you put the gift card in a few days before the processing date for additional deliveries. I just went through this whole process and received my order today. Thanks for the very thorough cost information. Helped make my decision a lot easier.

I agree, too, the frozen meals are definitely a nice bonus — especially the desserts! There are some costs with buying your own fruits or vegetables to consider too, but overall it seems fairly affordable. Anyways, thanks for the detailed pricing breakdown, really appreciate it. Is it organic or are there a lot of preservatives in It.

Hi Isabel — Thanks for visiting. Hi Arlene — Thanks for visiting. I have always found it to be very easy to opt out. As long as you stay on the program for at least two months, you should be able to cancel without paying any type of penalty if you need to cancel after month 1 I mention one way to avoid the penalty in the review above , and customer service has always been very easy to deal with when I have needed to call them.

I live in Ottawa Ontario Canada. Where in Canada can I join. Are the costs of the meals increased to take in the difference between the American and Canadian do. Also what about duty and taxes, as well as shipping fees. I am a woman ,77 yrs old and need to lose at least 25 lbs. Please try to enlighten me. Thank you very much for your assistance.

What exactly is in the Turbo Shakes? Are the ingredients identified on the package? Best of luck — Norm. Hi Obie — I added a picture of the nutrition fact label on our Nutrisystem Shake page. I have limited freezer space and feel that the frozen foods would be the way for me to start and continue a controlled size appropriate diet.

Does anyone offer three or four shipments monthly? If you get the Basic plan none of the foods are frozen, so that may be another option you could consider. Diet-to-Go has a weekly shipment option — we have a review about them here: Hope that helps — NS.

I have used your plan several years ago and did loose weight, but have gained some back. I am 81 yrs old and on a fixed income now. Having to buy extra food is not feasible me. However, the "obscure theory" on which his diet is based and the reliance on complicated fasting regimens and nutritional supplements means that this diet "is not a healthy way to lose weight.

There is no evidence to support this proposal. Because the alkaline diet promotes excluding certain families of foods, it could result in a less-balanced diet with resulting nutrient deficiencies such as essential fatty acids and phytonutrients. The level of effort needed to use this diet is considered "high" as there are many foods that need to be excluded. According to the traditional acid ash hypothesis underlying this diet, acid ash is produced by meat, poultry, cheese, fish , eggs , and grains.

Alkaline ash is produced by fruits and vegetables, except cranberries, prunes and plums. Since the acid or alkaline ash designation is based on the residue left on combustion rather than the acidity of the food, foods such as citrus fruits that are generally considered acidic are actually considered alkaline producing in this diet. Advocates for alternative uses of an alkaline diet propose that since the normal pH of the blood is slightly alkaline, the goal of diet should be to mirror this by eating a diet that is alkaline producing as well.

These advocates propose that diets high in acid-producing elements will generally lead the body to become acidic, which can foster disease. Because of the body's natural regulatory mechanisms, which do not require a special diet to work, eating an alkaline diet just can, at most, change the blood pH minimally and transiently.

A similar proposal by those advocating this diet suggests that cancer grows in an acidic environment, and that a proper alkaline diet can change the environment of the body to treat cancer.

This proposal ignores the fact that while cancer tissue does grow in an acidic environment , it is the cancer that creates the acidity. The rapid growth of cancer cells creates the acidic environment; the acidic environment does not create cancer. The role of the diet and its influence on the acidity of urine has been studied for decades, as physiologists have studied the kidney 's role in the body's regulatory mechanisms for controlling the acidity of body fluids.

The French biologist Claude Bernard provided the classical observation of this effect when he found that changing the diet of rabbits from an herbivore mainly plant diet to a carnivore mainly meat diet changed the urine from more alkaline to more acid.

Spurred by these observations, subsequent investigations focused on the chemical properties and acidity of constituents of the remains of foods combusted in a bomb calorimeter , described as ash. The "dietary ash hypothesis" proposed that these foods, when metabolized , would leave a similar "acid ash" or "alkaline ash" in the body as those oxidized in combustion. Nutrition scientists began to refine this hypothesis in the early 20th century, emphasizing the role of negatively charged particles anions and positively charged particles cations in food.

Diets high in chloride , phosphate and sulfate all of which are anions were presumed to be acid forming, while diets high in potassium , calcium and magnesium all of which are cations were presumed to be alkaline forming. Other investigations showed specific foods, such as cranberries , prunes and plums had unusual effects on urine pH. While these foods provided an alkaline ash in the laboratory, they contain a weak organic acid, hippuric acid , which caused the urine to become more acidic instead.

Historically, the medical application of this diet has largely focused on preventing recurrence of kidney stones as well as the prevention of recurrent urinary tract infections , by relying on the recognized ability of this diet to affect urinary pH.

Years ago, this diet was used to adjust the acidity of the urinary environment that the stones formed in, and could hypothetically help prevent stones from forming or the development of UTIs. However, the analytical methods that attempted to precisely calculate the effects of food on urinary pH were not precise except in very general terms, making effective use of this diet difficult.

Therefore, medications , which can more reliably alter the urine pH, rather than diet modification, have been the treatment of choice when trying to alter the pH of the urine.

Precise calculations require very detailed knowledge of the nutritional components of every meal as well as the rate of absorption of nutrients, which can vary substantially from individual to individual, making effective estimation of urine pH still not currently feasible.
