Crockpot Chicken and Dumplings

Now, if you are a fan of easy crockpot recipes then you MUST check out our other very popular recipe called the Crockpot Chicken and Stuffing recipe. Have you seen all the recipes you can make with these canned biscuits?

We love, love, love the Pull Apart Pizza Bread recipe too! When I make this Crockpot Chicken and Dumplings for my family, we use both cans of biscuits.

The more dumplings the better! And this makes a pretty good amount, so we always have left-overs for the next few days. You can lock the lid down and take it with you, which is so convenient. Or just straight to our popular Crockpot Chicken and Stuffing Recipe here.

Has anyone had any luck with crescent rolls or even canned pizza crust? I used flaky biscuits and they stuck all together…. It could be due to my inexperience with cooking as well.

The way my dad taught me was to flatten each bisquit in your hand then tear it into pieces, not the that this recipe says. I use the home made frozen biscuits in section with frozen pizzas etc. The flaky ones become too gooey and the butter ones too greasy. The buttermilk biscuits work great. I agree with other replied that you need to press them and use smaller pieces. My first time making chicken and dumplins ever and they turned out Awesome!!! Very flavorful and everyone loved it.

Made this exactly as directed and it turned out perfectly. I used the cheapest canned Kroger buttermilk biscuits. It even was great as a left over the next day. It does not mention any seasonings…. Add your own seasonings!! That is the fun thing about recipes…. Thank you for this recipe. My dumplings turned out dough-y as well. That was a bummer because I like flaky dumplings. When you created the recipe, were you able to get the dumplings flaky, or are they supposed to be dough-y?

I have a great dumpling recipe in my Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook. I also added a couple of tablespoons of poultry seasoning to the pot when I put the chicken in. I also put the chicken breasts in whole, then shredded them when they were done because my husband likes the chicken shredded. We got the cheap 4 pack of biscuits and I used 2.

I admit they were a bit doughy like others said, but I like it that way. I also used 3 cans of broth and 2 cans of cream of mushroom. The taste was amazing. Even my very picky 4 year and 6 year old boys ate it.

Will make this again! Trying this tonite but with my own twist. Anxious to see how it turns out. This is better done by stove top. Add 4 pack cans of Pillsbury biscuits. Tear them up in pieces and put them in the broth. Stir then add small carton of whipping cream. Salt and pepper and mix and serve. I get so many complements on this recipe. Anyway thats how to make them without any complications.

Takes about 15 minutes after chicken is boiled. Just a suggestion from my kitchen to yours…. I followed the recipe exactly.

I used the Grands Jr. My biscuits started dissolving almost as soon as I put them in the crockpot. It turned into big, wet, sticky blob. I cook on stove top 2 32 ounce container of chicken broth 2 23 ounce can of cream of chicken soup 8 cans of homestyle biscuits cut in half and then into three pieces 4 hard boiled eggs.

Kind of late to comment…but some styles of the Grands biscuits have chunks of butter throughout which may have contributed to the dissolving. The only problem was that when my husband went back for seconds the dumplings had dissolved! If anyone has any idea to why or how this happened let me know. I pulled them into pieces and pressed them with my fingers before putting them in the broth.

The biscuits are still doughy even though they were in the pot for an xtra 15 minutes after the first half hour. I did exactly as the recipe says. Maybe its because I used the grands biscuits? A couple of other people have said the same thing. I used Grands biscuits. Just tear them into smaller pieces. I also added some onion powder and garlic powder and black pepper.

I had been taste — testing throughout. It would have tasted ok before, but the after was amazing. I was just wondering if you have any tips for scaling down the recipe. I have a mini crock pot and my roommate is a vegetarian so I usually make mini crock pot meals but in not sure how to shrink this recipe.

It looks so good though. I am making this as we speak. I just got to the halfway mark and it is looking fabulous. I did prepare this recipe as directed and, so far, have no regrets. Initially, I thought I should have doubled up on the veggies. Thank you so much for sharing! Am I the only one who this turned out terrible for? The chicken was dry and burnt on the sides. This was practically inedible. It did smell great though. Just a thought…maybe try the recipe as is…no tweaks…? I have a pretty big crockpot but it almost filled to the top.

Was just wondering if I could substitute turkey breast instead of the chicken? I am thinking I could use this recipe for Thanksgiving! I would love to try this recipe with Turkey. This would be great around Thanksgiving time instead of leftovers. Made this on this first really cold day of fall. Hit with the whole house. I added a little cranberry sauce as a relish……awesome. I make this all of the time in the oven! I use cream of mushroom soup not cream of chicken and I add two packets of Lipton onion soup mix!!

It makes it extra amazing!!! I am trying it now in the crock pot for the first time! Thanks for the idea! Kristy — what is your recipe for making this in the oven? What temperature and for how long. I will have something else in the crock pot on the day I want to make this so if it works well in the oven I will give it a try!

I have made this in the oven as well. Not with chicken breasts though because I use the stock created after baking the seasoned chicken wings in a deeper dish with just a little chicken stock on the bottom season your chicken breast to taste.. Bake the wings until they begin to brown.

In a large bowl combine 1 can of soup, dry stuffing, and the stock from the chicken plus any additional to get close to the amount suggested on the box. I bake it on until the stuffing browns a little on top about 30 minutes.. I made the recipe a followed it step by step. Then I read the comments and saw that you need to add bread crumbs.

When do you add them and how much? I JUST got done eating this. Used cream of mushroom instead and used canned green beans. If I double this recipe, should I keep layering the ingredients, or just double it, and put in like the original recipe? This recipe looks really good! I would have to leave out the green beans, though. Great recipe but I replaced the canned soups with my own cream sauce and cooked mushrooms to control the sodium level. Sorry, I missed the part about how much bread crumbs.

Do you substitute them for the second box of stuffing or do you add the bread crumbs too? I made this tonight for dinner. The only change I made was using boneless chicken thighs. I use them because they never dry out in the crockpot. Unlike other comments I did not feel it was to salty, I used healthy request cream of chicken soup so that may be why. This will definitely be in my crockpot recipe rotation! Just wanted to tell you that this recipe rocked our socks off!!

We rely on crock pot recipes during the busy week, and this one is now on our repeat list. Thank you for sharing it….. I made this tonight and it was awesome! I just added some poultry seasoning on top of the chicken.

I saw this on pinterest. I made this tonight and followed the recipe and directions exactly. My husband and son loved it! I am wondering if i cut the recipe in half do i also need to adjust the time it cooks. I was planning on using the low setting instructions. I am not fond of chicken breasts in the crockpot.

I think I am going to try this in the oven, and maybe cut it in half as ot is only me. It really sounds good! I loved it but instead of green beans I used peas, corn, carrots, potatos, broccoli and onions. Next time I will add some more veggies. Made this tonight but added a few items as we love our veggies in this family. Added a chopped onion below the chicken, frozen carrots and fresh sliced mushrooms on top.

Easier to add if you want. Tried this recipe this evening and we enjoyed it, however it was a little bit too salty. I cooked it for a little over three hours, the first hour on high and the remaining time on low and it was definitely over done.

Chicken was dry and stuffing too mushy. I would totally use fresh green beans. Let me know how it comes out! When mixing the soup do you add water or milk to it or do you just mix the can with the sour cream?

Has anyone frozen the leftovers? Does it freeze well? The stuffing might be mushy after freezing and thawing, but I think it would be fine. I also cook for just me and most recipes are not designed for one person use so I freeze a lot of things.

We made this last night for a dinner party and it was stunning, the stuffing mix over the bread crumbs was something that I had not thought of. Chicken is fantastic for the body. If addition, how much more? And finally, fresh breadcrumbs or dried? I like this idea since the mix I am using is for cornbread stuffing.

When I make stuffing from scratch, it is half cornbread, half bread. This was so good! Thank you for such a great, easy, simple, affordable crockpot recipe!

I made this with plain nonfat greek yogurt instead of sour cream. It was delicious and I calculated it to be only calories per serving.

I used Greek yogurt when I made this and it was very good. Has anyone figured out how to reduce the salt. Maybe if there is an ingredient that could be used instead of cream of soup. Just looking for suggestions. I mix my soup up and plug it in when I get to work and perfect by lunch. Would like to make shakes using scrambled eggs also. Thought this might work also with other flavors like banana or strawberry to make flavored egg creams.

Yes…I made it today. All the Chocolate chips stayed in the bottom…so kinda weird. Can anyone help me with the pancakes? I think they are pretty gross, can they be used to make anything else? Add cinimon it makes it tast like french toast. I also coat my fry pan with either olive oil or flax oil. Hi Susan, I too hated the pancakes but now I love them made this way not sure if this is cheating at all but it beats throwing the packets out, right?

I cook this on a stove top skillet as one large pancake. I can eat this every day for breakfast. Please try, hope you like it. I add butter buds to the oatmeal and sprinkle it on the pancake before the syrup. Makes me think I have the real thing. Thanks for all the suggestions. You have all given me new hope I can make his meals more tasty!

I am very encouraged with the results, and will continue. I have tried everything in the 4wk kit, and seem to like it all…even the oatmeal! However, I have 2 boxes of soft serve mint and mango and I just cannot seem to like it even a little. Is there a trick or a recipe that someone has to get me thru these boxes? My next order will be custom, so I can eliminate it all together!

But until then I need your help!! I was just talking to my friend about this today. Find it in the soup aisle, in a jar and is like a paste. I mix my stew with water and 1 tsp. I mix all my soups with water and let sit overnight in fridge, since they are freeze dried, they need some time to absorb the liquid.

Hi — today is my first day using my new medifast products….. I saw a recipe for toco salad using low fat ground beef or ground turkey. Mix lettuce, tomato, gr onion. Top with salsa which is allowed. Add toco seasoning to cooking beef.

Top salad mixture with beef and enjoy. I make a wonderful Toco Salad using Thousand Island dressing. I wonder if you could add a little fat free Thousand Island to the salsa? I has some left in the freezer.

I like Kraft Free Zesty Italian. I also use it as a baste for chicken. Anyone have that recipe? My husband has lost about a hundred miles and I have helped. The pie sounds great. I have several recipes and I am perfected a couple of these, but he is eager for a new treat. Thank you, Thank you!! I put about 2 cups of water in a four cup pyrex measure, add 1 pk. This also helps get in some more of my oz of daily water: If you use the stick blender to make frozen soft-serve it will double in volume.

The stick blender is a big deal with this eating plan. Thanks for the idea- my soft serve never comes out right but I have a few packets left — now I have a new way to try them! I am on day 2 and tried the peach iced tea, I do not like it at all. Any ideas to make it taste better? I took the peach tea and drank it warm, it reminds me of a peach cobbler juice warm out of the oven, just no peaches or dough!! I started Medifast 5 weeks ago after deciding my weight loss from gastric bypass had stopped and I need to loss more!

I lost lbs from the bypass and maintained the loss for 10 years, but need to lose about more….. Being a chemist means my kitchen often looks like a lab when making some of my meals! I like to make up a lot of shakes and puddings using different flavorings and freeze them. Irish cream- Dutch Choc. Can be frozen in sealed plastic glass for later…take out and let sit for 1 hr. Butterscotch — 1 pkg. Remove from freezer 1 hour before serving and it is like eating a pudding pop!!!

Where do you find Walden Farms. I live in a smallish town and have not found it. We also find Walden Farms items at Fred Meyer in our town. I have also found a few Walden Farms items at a Super Walmart. The only place I can find the Marshmallow dip, which we add a spoonful to our shakes to make it thicker, is at Fred Meyer. I think you may also be able to order these items online thru Walden Farms. Does walden farms count as a condiment or a healthy fat if it is fat and carb and everything free??

They also have Italian and Ranch sprays. This is also my favorite salad dressing. Aloha from Michael and Lorelei on Maui!!!! Michael has just lost an amazing 54lbs. But check back often on the site because we will have more videos and blogs coming up…All of our posts over the last year can be found on facebook on Lorelei Williams..

I have been on Medifast for 8 weeks and have lost 21 lbs. I was getting Hungary for good old fashioned hamburger casserole. I made my family the draditional pasta casserole and here is what I did for me.

It was great and took care of my craving. Add all ingredient together in medium fry pan. Cook until broccoli is tender. Add 1pkg tofu pasta. Cook until heated through. Dark chocolate shake is good with a teaspoon of instant decaf coffee, ice cubes and water blended in a small blender.

Crusty Chicken I rolled the new Medifast chese pizza bites in the bag before I opened it. I used 4 oz of chicken that I dipped in one beaten egg. Then I dipped the chicken in the pizza crumbs. I sprayed the pan with Pam and cooked for 3 minutes per side. I threw away the extra egg, but put the few crumbs left on top while cooking. I ate this with a serving of canned green beans as a contrast to the spicy chicken. I have only been on medifast 11 days and am very happy with m loss of 11 pds.

I will be checking hee often for ideas. I have been on MF for a month and love it. Anyone has a similiar experience or thoughts on how to make it better? This is a great site. I need some kind of recipe for turkey burgers, of course without the bun. I just have to say thank you to everyone here. But this website made me feel so much better. I hear and hope it gets easier with time! But now I have some great ideas on what to do with the oatmeal and tons of other stuff! I am almost done with my second week of Medifast and I have to say, so far so good!

I am happy I found this website with so many great ways to make the food more satisfying!! I found the chocolate chip pancakes to be pretty bad…. I add a few walnuts to my pancakes and just a tiny drizzle of honey obviously try not to do that too often but it does make it taste better … YUMMM!

I too hated the chocolate chip pancakes but the walnuts made them taste much better… Just a small amount though becuase of the increase in calories and fat. Thanks for all the good ideas as I am just starting out and am having a difficult time enjoying the taste of many of the meals, as is.

Any suggestions for when I have that chip craving? Lisa, have you tried Kale chips? Wash the Kale, pull the leaves from the stem and tear into bite-size pieces.
